First Impressions
From the moment you walk in, it is clear why they have chosen the slogan “We Know Fish.” What I found different about La Perla Seafood Market in comparison to other markets in the areas, is their willingness to educate their consumers regarding the various types of seafood offered, healthy habits and various cooking methods that can be used.
The History Behind La Perla
La Perla seafood market is a family-owned business with over 15 years of experience in the seafood industry. Their founder, Carlyle Brown, started in the seafood industry in Miami, Florida in 2002. While in Miami, he learned the importance of honest pricing and providing quality seafood. Since moving to Orlando a decade ago, he has been responsible for providing seafood for some of the top seafood restaurants in the Central Florida area.
Carlyle has a passion for helping customers choose the best seafood option for their purpose and sharing the best way to cook these items. Some of these recipes might be family secretes, so don’t tell anyone. 😉

As a seafood consumer myself, knowing where my catch comes from is important to me. In the past, I have asked many seafood markets where they source from and their answers vary from Maine to California. La Perla sources their seafood from a variety of wholesale distributors throughout Florida. They focus on using distributors who understand the importance of sourcing responsibly harvested species and sustainability.

You will not see employees who are just there to sell you whats is most expensive no matter what you came in for. What you will find, is a small, knowledge staff of people who are truly enthusiastic about both seafood and its preparation. They are eager to help you find what you are looking for and make logical suggestions, as well as maybe share a recipe or two. Their philosophies on great customer service and knowledge of quality seafood are what make them unique in the business.
